2007 Nate's Vineyard Zinfandel

Although this is a new vineyard for us, we felt familiar with it from the start. Located literally next door to the Rhodes vineyard in Redwood Valley, some of the vines, including the Petite Sirah, were cloned years ago from old vines on the Rhodes property which has been one of our favorite sources of grapes. However the wines produced are not identical. What we found different was that the grapes came in at much higher acid levels, and the higher acid carries through in the finished wines. Juicy fruit flavors of black raspberry and cranberry highlight this wine. It is tasty now but the balance and structure will allow it to age gracefully for many years.
